Ink-jet is a great solution in case of quick and reasonably cheap plastic cards personalization with the usage of alphanumeric signs and bar codes.

The final quality of personalization may not be as high as with thermo print but thanks to that it is suitable for cards that don’t have to have long-term durability, such as seasonal promotion cards or periodical access cards.
